![]() ![]() Moorcroft is later killed by an assassin known as The Hunter, framing Reacher for the murder. Reacher tries to reach out to Samantha, but she rebuffs him. Moorcroft also reveals an old acquaintance of Reacher, Candice Dutton, has filed a paternity suit against him, claiming he is the biological father of her 15-year-old daughter, Samantha. Turner's attorney, Colonel Moorcroft, reveals that there is evidence that Turner is involved in the murders of two soldiers in Afghanistan, but Reacher believes she is being framed. ![]() He learns from Colonel Sam Morgan that Turner has been accused of espionage and detained. I think this might be one of the worst sequels to a movie I've seen in a long time. After busting a human trafficking ring on US Army land, drifter and former Army military police officer, Jack Reacher, returns to his old military headquarters to meet Major Susan Turner, holding his former command, whom he has been working with by phone during his travels. What the hell happened here? It felt almost like Tom Cruise was only in this to fulfill some contractual obligation. The score is generic at best and b-grade at worst. The action sequences are lacklustre and boring. ![]() The editing is frustratingly choppy even during non action sequences. I really love the Last Samurai so I had moderate hopes that this movie would be at least on par with the first one. Today I watched the sequel directed by Edward Zwick. I'd go as far as to say that the car chase sequence is one of the better ones I've seen over the last few years and reminded me a lot of the car chase sequence in the Bourne Identity. The action sequences are really well filmed and edited. While it's not a classic, I thought it was really well directed by Christopher MacQuarrie and I thought Tom Cruise captured the essence of the character quite well. The first one is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. So lately I decided to watch the Jack Reacher movies. ![]()
